The following is a collection of links, articles, music, personal musings and more that will make you feel. It will make you understand and perhaps it will give you better insight, not only into me, but into yourself. I admit, I have severely neglected this page, other than the two links mentioned below. I have been trying to read a book, for almost a decade, that starts out deep enough that you end up partially stunned for a year and leaves you either questioning your spiritual beliefs or feeling one with the information provided. While I'm not Goth, nor regularly curious about the afterlife, …. let's just say, my new year's resolution in 2020 was to finally reach the end of the book. "Our Name is Melancholy: The Complete Books of Azrael", should give you some insight into your own beliefs as well as a taste of what I consider depth and conversations worth having. (That was my 2020 resolution. Not surprising, I'm still reading the book. lol)
The first link is not the answer to what love is; it's actually the answer to what love isn't and you have to understand that first to really know what love is. Most people don't understand that. This sermon was written by my friend (author and minister) Rel Davis (RIP) and the original sermon given to me, in person, by him, in 2003. If you are dealing with crisis in your own life, questioning a current relationship, or feel you're always choosing the wrong friends or lovers, take 5 minutes and read this. Truly understand what Rel wrote.
The second link takes you to the now defunct band "Blue Morning". There are few bands out there with as much raw passion as this one. My favorite song of theirs is "Hesitate".
April 25th 2021, my best friend passed away. She was almost 13 and I commemorated her with a tattoo on the calf of my left leg. Something to know about me... although I can appreciate tattoos on other people, as far as myself, I never wanted additional identifying marks. I associated tattoos on my skin with the nazi holocaust number tattoos. That may seem a bit extreme, but after a childhood full of WWII history education and holocaust movies, that can influence quite a bit. For me to mark my skin with ink meant there had to be an event more personal than the objection. The same day she passed away; I erected a new mailbox with her death date on the back of the post. The goofy little narwhal embodies her personality and uniqueness. She was my kid and there will be a long time before I get another pup.
August 1st 2021, my colleague and friend, Joe Bryant, took his life. He left behind a wife and 2 kids. Joe had a lot of demons which he felt he could no longer run from, and he was tired of facing, by himself, head on. I had broken bread with he and his family on several occasions and he had confided his stresses, passions, and hauntings to me on a regular basis. If you are a friend and you are reading this, know that you matter. If you need help, stop at nothing to acquire it, and if you are having trouble with that task, on your own, ask. His death has affected me profoundly. According to a family member, he had dealt with chronic depression all of his life and it finally became too much. His picture, as a cover image, is forever a memorial on The Locators' Resource. RIP
In August 2016, I tandem skydived for the first time at Piedmont Skydiving in Salisbury, NC. It was amazing to be out there almost as free as a bird. On July 1st, 2023, I did a 1500 ft tandem hang glided with Instructor Craig Pearson at Thermal Valley Hang Gliding in Lenoir, NC. And then on July 8th, 2023, I did another flight with Craig, a mile high. If you ever get a chance to experience this, I highly recommend it, even if you are scare of heights, push yourself. These are highly skilled professional with a magnificent track record for safe jumps. I think I want to try paragliding next. The only reason I didn't have a pilot's license by age 25 was chronic migraines that led to black outs, auras, etc. I want to see if I like paragliding because you can fly fairly low, and I think that might be something I can do with migraines relatively safely as a potential solo flyer if I like the initial tandem flight.
